Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account details: your first and last name, business name if you give one, email address, phone number, department and arrondissement, password (stored only in scrambled form, never readable by us) and whether you joined as a customer or a provider. We confirm your email address before your account can be used.
• What providers publish: business name, description, category, location, phone number, WhatsApp number, website, photos, services and prices.
• Messages you send to other members through Kounouk, reviews you write, and reports you send about listings.
• Technical information needed to keep you signed in: a login cookie, and the IP address and browser type recorded with each login session.
• Your cookie choice, saved in your browser.

How we use it

• To run Kounouk: create your account, show listings, deliver messages and reviews.
• To keep Kounouk safe: review reports, prevent spam and fraud, and remove content that breaks our Terms.
• To handle paid Featured placements and contact providers about them.
• To send you emails about your account: confirming your email address, resetting your password, telling you about new messages, and reminding you before a listing is hidden for lack of updates.
• To answer you when you contact us.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising by other companies.

What other people can see

Anyone can see a listing's name, description, category, location, photos, services and reviews. A listing's phone number, WhatsApp number and website are shown only to signed-in members. Your name appears on your listings and on reviews you write. The phone number and location you give at sign-up, your email address and your password are never shown to other members.

WhatsApp and phone calls

When you tap a WhatsApp or Call button, you leave Kounouk. The conversation happens in WhatsApp or your phone app, and WhatsApp (Meta) handles it under its own privacy policy. Kounouk cannot see those conversations.

Companies that help us run Kounouk

We use a small number of service providers, who process information only to provide their service to us:

• Render: hosts the website.
• Supabase: stores the database and listing photos.
• Resend: sends Kounouk's emails, such as email confirmations, password resets and message alerts.
• GitHub: keeps encrypted weekly backups of the database.
• Cloudflare: delivers the website quickly and protects it from attacks.
• GoDaddy: manages the kounouk.com domain.
• Google Analytics: counts visits, only if you accept analytics cookies.

Some of these companies store data outside your country, including in the United States.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. Analytics cookies are used only if you choose "Accept" in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser data for kounouk.com.

How long we keep it

We keep your account while it is open. A listing that its owner has not edited or renewed for 30 days is hidden automatically, after reminder emails 14, 7 and 3 days before; the owner can put it back online from the dashboard. When you delete your account, we delete it together with your listings, photos, services, messages and reviews. Copies in backups are removed within 30 days. We may keep reports about abuse for longer where needed to keep Kounouk safe.

Your choices and rights

From your dashboard you can edit, hide or delete your listings at any time, and delete your account yourself. You can also ask us for a copy of your information or to correct it, by contacting us using the details below. We will reply within 30 days.

Children

Kounouk is not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell members on the site.
